sometimes a track is so hot it just has to come back around again. about ten years ago brett johnson and dave barker (stucco homes) wrote some unbelievably catching house tunes, one of them being temptation and lies. so it just seemed right to give this track yet another life. deadbeat and mike shannon dive deep into a stripped down techno groover, removing the constant use of the vocals and creating a rolling techno dub version. some seriously deep bass in the production that works the subs in all the right places. ernesto ferreyra and guillaume coutu dumont aka chic miniature give you a playful melodic version on the flip. full use of the original chord progressions, combined with the guys signature marimba/latin percussion leaving you with a lush, warm summer hit. then brett dives into the track again giving you the oohs and ahhs mix. a ten minutes work out with bjs patented groove focused on the vocal harmonies in the original. the result is a warped, spaced out, long player that is sure to twist a few heads. mental just about sums it up. of course we had to include the original masterpiece for those who didnt find it the first time round. a favorite of everyone involved on the remix project i think youll agree that the temptation and lies cynosure mixes do the original some justice.

teaming up with the legend that is francois dubois. the first time the pair have worked together since the labels first release. the pair turn out a devastating house workout. deep warm synths, and heavy, killer keys, create a wonderfully moody, traditional workout, ready for all floors. on the flip, h turns to irish don and barcelona resident chymera, who turns in an electrified version of the original. injected with more pace and power than the original, the elements from the lead track hit he floor with added urgency. a great tech-infused cut, that will find favour across the board.

we are delighted to announce the wagon repair debut of montreal native stephen beaupre. one half of crackhaus, a long time collaboration with deadbeat, stephen has recently released solo material on labels from musique risque and ~scape, and put out his debut album on mutek’s own imprint in 2006. in honour of the great ancient persian empire, ‘achaemenid’ roams stridently with tight kick, clangorous melodic cascades and prodding rhythmic tones. ethereal string pads and moaning atmospherics imply conflict, narrated by catchy vocal passages from beyond the murky depths. a reverberant rhythmic synth line injects life into ‘lotus eaters’, with static vocal samples and penetrative melodic tones forming sonic structures around deep tom and rattled hat. grossly intoxicating, elements lull into a mellow haze before reanimating into a wildfire finale.

the mind melt keeps melting. pretty soon we will just be puddles of freaky essential oils, reduced down to our effervescent essence, like jasmine, or dry kool-aid. of course we are talking about onur Ízers album kasmir, the gift that keeps on giving. once again renowned artists have come out in full force reworking selected tracks off onurs album for vakants remix-only vr. first up is mr. rajko m³ller, better known as isolÚe, who having spent some time growing up in algeria, continues with the african remixer theme (tunisian born loco dice remixed eclipse on part 1. you know us, as if we even need an excuse to work in africa somehow.) isolÚe takes onurs otherwise chilling innervoice and reinterprets it into a thick warm blanket of reassuring bounce. flipping the record inverts dimensions of time and space. abyssfully deep legend baby ford takes the already ethereal aida and turns it into the soundtrack for finding the god particle. its scary, yes, but ultimately it could explain everything.

the make up the break up is the first release on bruno pronsatos own thesongsays label. its the longest track in his catalog (38 minutes), and an even deeper excursion into his stylized harmony. this track was originally a track uncompleted while making, æwhy cant we be like us. revisiting it roughly a year ago, bruno began to reword it. what began as simple attempt to create an ep track out of it became a monster. what monster you ask? in a few words, the monster that is brunos love of musicality and sound design. muscially speaking, we are on a ride somewhere between a slithery house track and a drugged out night out in chelsea, new york in the 60s - and thats a good thing because we get the entirety of the ride: the ups, the downs, the clouded mentality, the broken heart and perhaps the mended one. its happy, its sad - its something that you can dance to, but most importantly, its music that we think you can revisit for many years, as it somehow reflects us, our lives. a playful and extended journey through love and disaster, or at least the soundtrack to it.

capricorn rising is a brand new label for music response, hunting out old and rare tracks and re inventing them in their own way. first up on the label we have earth calling and spectacular.earth calling is a long lost and hidden gem featuring the vocals of a certain gordon sumner, which has been reworked for 2009 in true style, while spectacular is rare a track from can from 1977 another gem reworked by the capricorn rising crew.

a rare release from one of minimal house and techno s most respected icons, thomas brinkmann. isch is a much sought after track taken from a record that has been out of print since many years. not many people know that this track was originally made for the mutek festival in 2002. out of respect we let mr. brinkmann choose his prefered remixer and we were more than happy when soulphiction aka jackmate (perlon, sonar kollektiv, philpot) took on the challenge. his remisch is nothing short of a future classic, maybe even his best rework to date. an essential release for your collection!!

olmeto, a small town in corsica, is infamous as the birthplace of the family vendetta. we chose the name as it has an air of mystery but also a bit of fire. we felt that we wanted a label with us as the only artists free to do what we want, how we wantà this is release number 23. all have been ours, and range across the house spectrum, vocal, minimal, tech and deep and probably a little of each in all. the raw road and madagaskar whilst different, are made from the same mood. a strong rhythm with elements brought in and out, like a good dj, you lock the groove and then begin to play around it. although all tracks are by us, we do bring in artists we like to remix from time to time. the raw road will be remixed by mark broom and nic fanciullli and they will join artist such as loco dice, green velvet and unkle who have both remixed tracks over the course of the label.

the second release on the newly formed barcelona label they are changing it comes from barcelona based american dj/producer fluen. on this ep fluen gives us a glimpse into his production range delivering an ep that has a clear chicago/ny house influence , but manages to avoid the conga fever that has swept the scene as of late, and at the same time sounds very current. on the a side, things take off with better days, fun and very dancefloor oriented. the second track on the b side, mary says stands out right away thanks to a catchy piano riff and female cut up vocals,reminiscent of old chicago records. on the b side, fluen mixes things up a bit with a song that catches you from the get go. music remains starts very basic, with a dreamy piano line and a kick that lay the foundations for a song that could easily be a hit, simple, beautiful and very dancefloor friendly. the vocals wisely remind us that >people come and go, times do change and allà. but the music remains<. limited edition of 500 units

sven tasnadi is a producer who, with every release, audibly and gracefully takes his style down the many different avenues of house and techno cityà his latest, brave work for poker flat then could perhaps be described as a midnight drive down main street, tempted by and lingering at some of the darker side streets, yet journeying on regardlessà.! its a fantastic ride from tasnadi, that sees two versions of the title cut plus a perfect b side track included for good measure. >habanero< is a tough, tracky concoction of thick bass led percussion, warbling, building sci-fi synths and classy hi-end hats. the unmistakable groove begins low and simply builds upwards, creating a 10 minute cabride through ultra-modern tech house, cuba style! we wont spoil the fun with the tingling breakdowns key momentà but theres also a (without trumpet) version on the b1à.! carrying on the chunky, dramatic vibes, >piri piri< dubs things out as a blissful and unique synth line carries this beautiful journey track along its honest and respectful path. a wonderfully resolute deeper moment from tasnadi, the phasing vocal stutters and pads play together with the central in delightful harmony, reminding us of the producers ear for touching and timeless arrangements
